Julia P. Gelardi

Author and Historian

I’ve always had an affinity for the written word. Some of my earliest memories have been about learning how to read, visiting bookstores, and being fascinated by all sorts of books. So, it comes as no surprise that I eventually gravitated to a career in writing.

After receiving a Master of Arts degree in History from Simon Fraser University in Canada, I went on to pursue my writing goal.

I have had three books focusing on royalty published by St. Martin’s Press. The first was Born to Rule: Five Reigning Consorts, Granddaughters of Queen Victoria (2007), followed by In Triumph’s Wake: Royal Mothers, Tragic Daughters, and the Price They Paid for Glory (2009), and From Splendor to Revolution: The Romanov Women, 1847-1928 (2011).

I've also have two published via Amazon (both ebook and paperback): "A Guarded Secret: Tsar Nicholas II, Tsarina Alexandra and Tsarevich Alexei's Hemophilia" and "Drina & Lilibet: Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II from Birth to Accession".

I currently live with my husband in Minnesota, in a suburb of the Twin Cities, not far from our two daughters, who through the years have patiently shared their lives with numerous strangers from the past who have peopled my books. When I’m not busy researching and writing, and doing some volunteer work, I love visiting museums, enjoying concerts, spending time with my family, and doing as much traveling as possible.
